~ October News from Brass Jacks~

Your Monthly Update from Brass Jacks Bookkeeping Academy

Wondering how No Tax on Tips and
No Tax on Overtime will affect you?

We break it all down in our latest video:

If you want regular bookkeeping clients without having to post on social media everyday, this corner of the internet was built just for you.

Each month in the BBC we focus on a different aspect of running a bookkeeping business. This month we're carrying along last month's theme of "Let's Get Paid" and layering on some accountability with weekly calls and check-ins.

This method gets consistent bookkeeping clients... even if you're just starting your business.

⬇️ ⬇️ Important Dates to Remember ⬇️ ⬇️

Due Dates:

  • Q3 payroll tax reports are due by 10/31
  • Tax Extensions due by 10/15 (for personal tax returns)

Banking Holidays:

  • Columbus Day/Indigenous People's Day - October 13th

Oregon Specific:

  • Unclaimed Property must be reported between 10/1 - 11/1 each year. If your business has property valued at $100 or greater, abandoned as of June 30 of this year, you must report them to the state of Oregon.

A note from JR:

Hello, it's October. Honestly, I wasn't quite done with September but no one asked me so here we are...

You may have noticed that we haven't been putting out as much content lately, we used to focus on getting a new video up on our YouTube channel every week but that hasn't happened for a while now.

I'll be real with you, we are just working SUPER hard to get this software out the door on time, we've already had a couple of delays (we had hoped for a summer launch, but had a few bumps).

We are feeling really good about the December launch. We had a small but might beta test group in September and we are working on tweaking a few things.

This software is a desktop software so that means it operates more like QuickBooks Desktop, NOT QBO. QBO is a decent product but QB Desktop has been stripped away from new users, unless you're willing to pay for Enterprise.

We have been very open about the many issues that we have with Intuit as a company, which you already know if you've been here a while, we feel that the cost of doing your company's books should not be almost DOUBLING every year. That's unsustainable.

So, we'll just keep fine-tuning Brass Jacks Bookkeeper software over the next couple of months so we can get you a solid alternative option, at a fraction of the cost.

And lately it feels like the cost of literally everything is going up, so we hope to be a fresh new option for folks.

If you want to be on the software waitlist, you can sign up here: https://www.brassjacks.com/brass-jacks-bookkeeper-software

If you've already signed up in the past, we have your name and swear that you'll be the first to know (yes, I see you signing up 3 or 4 times!) I get it, I'm ready for it to be ready too!!

Thanks for all of your support.

We are so glad you are here. Whether you're part of our Bookkeeping Business Membership (for August we're working on our systems and processes!) or improving your skills in one of our courses, we hope Brass Jacks can be a source of education, connection and growth for you.

Because let's face it - bookkeepers are better in community, and fostering that connection is what Brass Jacks is all about.

Happy bookkeeping!
