Free Training: What is Job Costing?

It's no secret that Jackie Shaw (JS) is brilliant at taking bookkeeping and accounting tasks and concepts and organizing them into repeatable processes and streamlined systems that work beautifully.

And one industry where she really shines is the remodeling industry.

In the spring of 2020 (while the world as we knew it was shut down) JS invited me (JR) into the intricate world of accounting for the remodeling industry.

I learned so much from her.

The month end processes that she had in place for job costing were nothing short of genius.

JS has such a knack for leveraging accounting software so that it does what you need it to do.

You may be saying to yourself, that's great, but what IS job costing?

Job costing is understanding how to assign all the costs associated with a job so that nothing is overlooked, jobs are priced accurately and cash is flowing as needed.

While this may seem like a very niche market, it also applies to other industries, like engineering, construction, trades, basically any service area where large bids are made on a project and billing is done over time.

There are so many pieces to job costing.

You have to understand how COGS work, vs Indirect Expenses, vs Overhead.

Payroll has to be coded with items.

There's a lot to it!

In this FREE training, JS is explaining the different aspects of Construction Bookkeeping.

Please let us know what you think in the comment section!

Rooting for you!

Hi Reader, Let's face it.... Most business owners—and even some bookkeepers—don’t realize just how important the COA structure really is. But here's the truth: If the Chart of Accounts is cluttered, inconsistent, or misused, then the company's reports are wrong.
